Christmas morning - the celebration of the Incarnation. “God put on flesh and moved into the neighborhood.” When we are the hands and feet of Jesus, we will be sent as he was sent.

We enter new situations as helpless and unknowing as babies. We take time to learn and grow and understand.

The moment of ministry is often far shorter than the time of incarnation and growing. Yet without the long months of anticipation, the pain of birthing, the long months of growing–we cannot reach the moment of maximum ministry.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us pause for a moment and ask - where in our lives, in our relationships, among peoples, among places, does the Kingdom still need to be birthed? Where is Jesus sending us, just as He was once sent?
