Total Deaths, 1950-2100

The other side of population growth is death. This chart shows the total number of deaths out of each region: as populations increase in size, the total number of deaths also rise. However, some of the regions (notably in Asia) have seen declining numbers of deaths, also related to declining infant mortality and improvements in health. Comparing this chart to the births chart, we can see that net population growth globally will drop to nil by 2100 if these trends hold true (where births roughly equal deaths).
