“What is measured, gets done,” says the famous quote.
Correlate: what can’t be done or seen to be done, can’t get measured.
(And therefore remains undone.) The “done” state is one of the most important factors in defining a task.
“How will you know it is finished?” Implicit in “done” is the value to be delivered.
When “done” defines “value desired,” we can ask if there’s a better way to deliver the value, and if the value was truly delivered (thus, auditing the “done.”) “Done” also allows you to work background in multiple miniature “done” steps, which is the genesis of a strategic plan.
