The dark side of a call

It’s important to have a sense of what God is calling you to do. But there is a dark side to having a “divine call,” that fellow blogger and friend Eddie Arthur and I talked about yesterday.
We can fall for the temptation to elevate ourselves and refuse to serve others. To demand our way, saying we are demanding God’s call on our lives.
A call from God doesn’t give us the right to ignore the rest of Scriptures commands about serving others, walking humbly, loving our families, and so on.
We must have a balance between following hard after God’s call on our lives and being part of the ekklesia–the Body of Christ. We need to be careful we don’t use a call as an excuse to demand our own way.
