Useful stuff, 1

The following are some articles I’ve seen this past week, and why they are useful to missiology and missionary counting/research.

Counting crowds: was Egypt’s uprising the biggest ever?” on how to count crowds from satellite images, local surveys, and addresses the issue of politicking numbers and a lack of basic numeracy skills. Useful when researching populations of smaller places that may not have frequent censuses, or of people groups.

The 2013 social media landscape info graphic: the conversation prism.” This is the 4th edition of an infographic I’ve used in a lot of places: a kind of map of the social media landscape. Maybe not useful but an interesting graphic to look at.

Population growth, from NPR. This wonderful short video shows clearly how population has ballooned to 7 billion today… and where it will level off.
