Easter, Connections, and the Dunbar Number

Remember that Rodney Stark has analyzed the conversion experience and discusses how it nearly always happens in the context of relationships. If a person does not have a relationship with a believer–in fact, several relationships with several believers whom they respect–they will likely not convert.

Here’s the bottom line: if you want people to become believers, you have to ask if any believers are friends with them.

No friendship = No belief.

And when you think about it, that has some pretty dire consequences–and not just for the unbeliever.

Will believers who never made friends with non-believers be judged in the same light as the dude who buried his talent in the ground? Bad result, that…
