We spent dinner last night with old family friends. As we left and pulled out on the main road, Heidi turned to me and said, “And, as usual, we have once again spent the entire evening being asked questions, listened to, encouraged and uplifted–and did not get to the point of encouraging them.”
In a sense I feel bad about that. In another sense we were incredibly blessed.
There are three kinds of friends in the world, I have been told: momentum makers, breakers and takers. If you want to move forward, hang out with momentum makers. If you want to move others forward be a momentum maker yourself.
Best way I know to do that is to invite people for coffee of a meal and spend the white listening to them and encouraging them.
It’s a model worth passing on.
