The last of the Manchus: Et tu, Manchu?,” The Economist. This article illustrates a point not often considered in the making of UPG lists (although this did arise in recent conversations with other researchers): people groups vanish. They are assimilated into other groups, and no longer need to be reached out to with specific blessings aimed at their culture and language. This is one reason why strategically it is often best to focus on people group clusters, regions, cities, and provinces–or at the very least to make some exploratory trips before committing to a specific language!
