Team Expansion (of which Doug Lucas of Brigada fame is the leader) was tweeting its “Great Passions” today. These are great examples of swarmish values:
- Great Passion 1) We pursue God, worship, holiness and prayer.
- Great Passion 2) Prayer – It’s what connects us to God, giving us passion and purpose.
- Great Passion 3) People – God loved people enough to send his Son, even though they didn’t respond at first. May we walk in His steps.
- Great Passion 4) We will not quit, we will not falter. We will hope and believe and we will be victorious.
- Great Passion 5) Team Expansion values and accepts individual and cultural differences.
- Great Passion 6) We love learning the language and culture of those to whom we’ve been called to witness.
- Great Passion 7) We value growth – spiritually, organically and numerically.
I like their term “passions.” It might be a better term than “values,” actually. When we think of “values” we often think of stuff like “we will not lie.” But what I’ve really been aiming for are the “distinctives” or “passions” that make a swarm unique – that shape the way they pursue their vision. Team Expansion’s passions are different from those of, say, YWAM or WEC, and shapes the culture of TE in key ways. Do you have a list of passions?
