Growing affluence in Russia marked by growth of American fast-food chains

August 4, 2011

Andrew E. Kramer, “Russia Becomes a Magnet for American Fast-Food Chains,” New York Times.

An interesting article illustrates how, regardless of the population crash, the economy in Russia is growing. They may have less income than Americans, but because of lower taxes, lower debt, and lower health care costs, they have substantially more disposable income.

Once upon a time, the Russian Orthodox Church was one of the largest senders of missionaries (back before the Reformation). Might it happen again?
