BBC News – Muslim for a month: Can you test drive a religion? People take part in praying five times a day, fasting, forsaking pork and alcohol. The idea is not so much that people will convert, but rather that interfaith understanding and dialogue will be improved.
This might be an interesting model for mission agencies or churches to consider utilizing with a few tweaks: a “going through the motions” kind of thing rather than a creedal conversion, to give someone an idea of what being a Muslim is like. Would this be like “walking a mile in the other guy’s shoes”?
