Mission to Unreached Peoples, the agency I am with, has a goal of mobilizing 1% of the teams needed to reach the unreached. I did a research piece some time ago that estimated another 43,000 teams would be needed. MUP opted for a “1% goal” – 430 teams deployed in the next ten years.
East West Ministries has a different “1%” goal: they want to be involved in evangelizing 1% of the remaining unreached people groups.
These “1%” goals help to break the remaining task into chunks that are individually plausible yet together contribute to the wider goal. Can we, individually, finish the task? Of course not. We need each other. But can we, individually, take responsibility for something? Clearly, yes.
The nice thing about the “1%” goal is that typically these are “within reach” with hard work, the favor of God, and singular focus. But it also requires us to be “one of 100″–so we should be mobilizing a broader partnership, too.
What is your 1% goal?
