Measuring ourselves: The Quantifiable Self

July 1, 2011

The Technium: The Quantifiable Self is a conference of 400 people interested in serious self-tracking. Most of this has to do with things like weight, sleep, productivity, etc. And while I’ve seen the benefits of self-tracking myself, on certain things, I wonder: how do we measure the more nebulous qualities?

How often do I feel joy? How often am I charitable? When am I self-controlled? When do I fall to temptations to be selfish or rude or quick to anger?

If we judged ourselves, we would not be judged?
