Blast in Norway near Prime Minister’s Office

July 22, 2011

Just breaking: there has been a bombing near the Prime Minister’s office in Norway. A giant explosion rocked government buildings, blowing out windows and killing at least one.

No responsibility has been claimed yet. Whether this was an act of terrorism is yet unknown. If it is and if it has impact on the church, I’ll update this post.

Updates:

11:50am Oslo Explosion: Blast Result of Massive Vehicle Bomb, Sources Say – ABC News
12:05pm News conference being held, everyone asked to leave downtown Oslo, no suspects yet.

Apparently the attacker detonated some kind of bomb and then killed more than 80 at a conference for young people  a few hours later.

This was more an “Oklahoma City bombing”

7/23, morning: it appears from overnight news that it was not the work of an international terrorist organization, but rather a madman: a “right-wing Christian fundamentalist who may have had issue with Norway’s multicultural society” (CNN).
