The Danger of a Coach

June 1, 2011

Coaches are good. They can help get us off the bench and into the game. They can watch what we do and suggest better methods.

But coaches can’t replace self-discipline and self-motivation.

If you’re waiting for a coach to tell you what to do—what do you do when the coach isn’t around? Do you do what you should—or just slack off, and do what you want?

The hard question is, always, what do you think and do when no one is watching?

Instead of waiting for a coach, try self-measurement. Make a list of the simple things that will lead to the fulfillment of your vision. Keep a record every day. How many are you doing? How can you do more?

How well are they working out?
