Leave eternity for later

June 24, 2011

Part of the problem with we Christians is this: we spend a lot of time trying to help people solve a problem they don’t know they have—or at worse, don’t believe exists.

Some do not believe there is a Heaven (or Hell for that matter). But the vast majority are already believers of one sort or another and think their way will solve the issue of the afterlife. For many, they have problems they perceive to be more pressing than the issue of eternity.

Perhaps we need to worry less about God’s sovereignty over and answer for eternity, and think more about presenting God’s sovereignty over and answer for the here and now. If we came to think about what Christ wants to do in this moment, and the moment after this–and thus come to acknowledge His lordship now–eternity would sort itself out.

Everyone has a moment, this moment, that Jesus wants to be in the middle of. How can you and I reveal His presence and will in this moment?
