We have transformed “holy days” to “holidays.” We changed one letter and crammed the words together—and they are no longer set apart for a Godly purpose.
Christmas, Easter, Sunday rest—they are secularized, repurposed for shopping and materialism, in which we occasionally have a sentimental “reason for the season” background reminder.
We changed the “Y” (Why-Yahweh-God) to “I”.
It’s hard to fight that trend. The pulse of life in a materialistic culture is overwhelming. Oddly, the place where it might be easiest to return holy days to their holy place is in a place where they are not celebrated—among the unreached.
There, the question of “why do you celebrate Christmas?” will be earnestly asked—and can be earnestly answered.
