Listen for the horn

May 1, 2011

Sometimes, in the early morning, just as the fog of dreams lift, just as the first rays of sunlight pour into your room, you hear it.

The horn.

It is loud, but it seems impossibly distant. Somewhere, off in the Land of Great Adventure, someone is on a Hunt.

They are blowing the horn, and calling people to join in the Hunt, in the Great Quest.

They are Calling You.

But then, the fog lifts, the morning is here, you’ve got to be to work by nine, and there is no time for Horns or Hunts.

Because you’ve got to earn money to Live The American Dream (or The Chinese Dream, for that matter).

And eventually you’re burning the candle at both ends, staying up late at night working on Something That Will Make You Rich and Make All Your Dreams Come True.

Except, that while money can buy horns, it can’t buy The Horn.

Eventually, you won’t hear The Horn any more.

And that will be a shame.

Listen for The Horn now…

Seek The Horn now…
