Clear Talk

May 8, 2011

How good are you at clearly sharing your vision?

The only way to know is to share it, and ask people what they heard.

This isn’t asking people to tell you how to get your vision done. It’s about making sure they understand what needs to be done, to begin with.

If you’re not able to clearly communicate the vision you have, you won’t be able to find people who really “get” it, who are “on the same page” with you.

If you don’t share the same vision and values, you won’t be able to work together on the same projects.

So if you want to build a really good partnership, one that stands the test of time, the very first thing to do is to practice successfully and clearly communicating your vision so that people get the vision—and not their idea of what your vision really must be.

(Which usually, is theirs, not yours.)
