Where are those called to the unreached?

April 27, 2011

I am not one of those who think those who believe themselves called to minister in Mexico or England or Canada are by default wrong because they aren’t focused on an “unreached” area. And I think there is a very strategic opportunity to reach least-reached people in Christian or at least marginally open countries: that is in fact where most of unevangelized individuals live.

The challenge is this: while there are plenty of people who are responding to God’s call on their life to minister in, say , South America, there are apparently very few responding to the call of God to minister in, oh, say, Sudan or Saudi Arabia. Or even to the Sudanese or Saudis living in Europe or the United States. Some, yes, but not enough,

God clearly wants all peoples to hear the Good News. And his plan is to use us. So he must be calling some.

Who’s going to bravely step up and challenge the church… in its, ahem, disobedience?

After all if God is calling and no one is stepping up, then… Someone is disobeying?

I sense an uncomfortable silence coming on…

I agree with you Justin, it just doesn’t make sense that so many are called to paid positions and ministries in safe locations when the majority of the world’s population is starving for the Gospel. It is not too difficult to clearly see whether or not I am personally being obedient or disobedient, but I find it difficult to discern God’s will for someone else if they are not clearly living in sin.
