I am presently on my way to a partnership consultation for an breached people group, being held in the northern USA.
I rather enjoy partnership consultations more than generic conferences, because they are usually smaller and made up of people who share a common vision and are passionately focused on it. At larger conferences you get to meet more and varied people, but sometimes tracks suffer because the people who participate have different and varied levels of interest, commitment, and experience.
Nearly every unreached people group cluster at this point has some kind of network focused on it. It’s not necessarily a formal partnership and they are often hard to find, as they are very secure conscious. They rarely blog about what they are doing. But then, I have discovered an axiom that those who talk least are usually doing the most the closest to the field.
The bottom line is that if you want to get involved one of the first steps is to find the partnership group. And, if you want to find key people, go to some big conferences… and watch for the guys and gals who are saying very little, and listening a lot.
