Don’t judge my deeds; I had a great vision…

April 28, 2011

in “Mortensen, Madonna, and saving the world,” Chris Horst makes a very important point: “Regardless of how desperately [a chef] wanted to serve good food, it does not excuse terrible food and shoddy service. You would hold him accountable for the meal–for the results–not for his noble aims.” Horst is making the point in the light of revelations about Madonna’s charity works and Mortensen’s Three Cups of Tea Scandal…

…but his words are a solemn warning to those of us who have great hearts and great vision but are poor on execution.

You can’t judge your efforts by your laudable goals, but only by whether you reach the goals.

You are loved and valued by God because you are His child and His creation, not because of anything you do. BUT that doesn’t excuse shoddy work. We should be doing it “as unto the Lord, not unto men.”
