Needed: Missions Incubators?

August 24, 2010

From TechCrunch: AngelPad: Seven Ex-Googlers Are About To Launch A New Incubator. One interesting comment, “The problem is obvious: it’s hard to launch a startup. But one potential solution, great mentorship and support, isn’t so easy to come by. With their own startup of sorts, seven ex-Googlers are going to attempt to solve that.” Do we need missions incubators? Ministry incubators? Missionary incubators? What do you think?

I would too – but we need more! Maybe you should create a course for incubators.

I think the relationship would be one of ongoing friendship, coaching, mentoring – basically the relationship between someone in a sending church and the one being sent. A helper. Not a boss per se.

When I joined Caleb Project we had a “department” called the Incubator. People who were in the process of building a new team could get a bit of extra nurture from Greg, our president, without having to meet all the requirements that other team leaders / dept. directors were under. They had his attention, they had each other, and it seemed to make a difference. Not everything in the incubator hatched, but it got a fighting chance.
