Making a place in the church for lamentation

While indexing articles for the knowledge base I ran across this: The lament of an Indonesian rape victim,  by Alex Buchan, Compass Direct, 1/1/99 What it said toward the end struck a chord with me: She still does not go to church, for one very simple reason: churchgoers cannot handle a lament. This struck me when I went to a famous central London church the following Sunday. All the songs were of victory and triumph, militaristic, confident, loud.
